Measurement of the Branching Fraction and the CP-Violating Asymmetry for the Decay B0 --> K0S Pi0

We measure the branching fraction and the CP-violating asymmetry of B⁰→ Kₛ⁰π⁰ decays with 227 million Υ(4S)→ BB events collected with the BaBar detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e+e- collider at SLAC. We obtain a branching fraction B(B⁰→ K⁰π⁰) = (11.4 ± 0.9 ± 0.6) × 10⁻⁶ and CP-violating asymmetry parameters Cₖₛ⁰π⁰ = 0.06 ± 0.18 ± 0.03 and Sₖₛ⁰π⁰ = 0.35⁺⁰.³⁰₋₀.₃₃ ± 0.04, where the first error is statistical and the second systematic.
